How many FPS can GTA 6 run? Rockstar Games has provided a new update on the game’s performance, confirming that Grand Theft Auto VI is currently running at 30 frames per second on consoles. However, the developer has not ruled out a 60 FPS mode for launch or a later update.
The latest information comes after a recent GTA 6 gameplay presentation recorded on a standard PlayStation 5. Rockstar North head of development and co-president Rob Nelson discussed the game’s current performance during a visit from YouTube creator Davy Jones.
How Many FPS Does GTA 6 Run At?
GTA 6 currently runs at 30 FPS on consoles, according to Rockstar. The developer confirmed that the game is currently targeting 30 frames per second during its ongoing development and optimization process.
This does not necessarily mean that 30 FPS will be the final performance limit. Rockstar is still working on optimizing GTA 6 ahead of its release, meaning the final performance options could change.
Will GTA 6 Run at 60 FPS?
Rockstar has not confirmed whether GTA 6 will run at 60 FPS at launch. The studio is still discussing the possibility of adding a 60 FPS mode with its technical team.
That means players should not assume that GTA 6 will offer a 60 FPS performance mode on day one. Rockstar has also not confirmed whether 40 FPS support will be available for displays running at 120Hz.
Will GTA 6 Run at 60 FPS on PS5 Pro?
The PlayStation 5 Pro is also not guaranteed to run GTA 6 at 60 FPS. Rockstar has yet to reveal the final resolution, ray-tracing settings and detailed performance targets for the PS5 Pro version.
While the more powerful hardware could potentially provide additional performance headroom, Rockstar has not announced a specific PS5 Pro performance mode.
What FPS Will GTA 6 Have at Launch?
At this point, the only confirmed performance information is that GTA 6 is currently running at 30 FPS on consoles during development.
The final FPS could change before launch because optimization is still underway. Rockstar could potentially introduce different graphics and performance modes, but those options have not been officially detailed yet.
Can GTA 6 Run at 120 FPS?
There is currently no confirmation that GTA 6 will support 120 FPS on consoles. Rockstar has not announced a 120 FPS mode, and even 40 FPS support for 120Hz displays has not been confirmed.
Players with high-refresh-rate TVs and monitors will therefore have to wait for Rockstar to reveal the game’s final performance options.
What About GTA 6 on PC?
The situation could be different on PC because performance will depend on the player’s hardware and the eventual PC version of the game. However, Rockstar has not officially announced a PC version of GTA 6 yet.
As a result, there are currently no official PC system requirements or FPS targets for GTA 6.
